As the unveiling of Apple’s new products approaches in the second half of this year, news and rumors about them have increased dramatically, and recently the next generation of iPad mini has been in the spotlight. Rumor has it that there are many powerful hardware specs in Apple’s smallest tablet. Yesterday, Digitimes claimed, citing sources familiar with the supply chain, that the next iPad mini will have a mini-LED display that can bring much better contrast, brightness and depth of black than other displays; But display analyst Ross Young called the report baseless and said the next iPad mini would not be equipped with a mini-LED display.

Young says he has been in contact with Radiant Opto-Electronics and confirms that there is no sign of a mini-LED backlight supply in the next-generation iPad mini. This is the company that Digitimes claims will provide the mini-LED backlight for products such as the iPad mini and will deliver it to Apple in the third quarter of this year.

In the past,  Ming Chi Koo , a familiar analyst with Apple products, had reported that the next iPad mini with a mini-LED display will be available in the second half of 2020; But as you know, this did not happen for reasons attributed to the coronavirus epidemic and supply chain logistics problems. Mark Bermanberg of Mark Bloomberg recently reported that the iPad mini 6 will likely be the first major redesign of this series of Apple tablets, and will apparently be adorned with display design elements and flat edges, like the company’s recent products.

It is not yet clear what chips the iPad mini 6 will be equipped with; But according to a report from Digitimes, this tablet, like the  iPhone 13 series, will use the A15 chip to provide processing power. The A15 chip will likely be based on the 5nm Plus process and will have the same number of processing and graphics cores as the A14 chip. It is possible that the next iPad mini, like the iPad Pro 2021, will be available in 5G configuration. Other possible specifications include a USB-C port and being equipped with a smart connector. It is also said that due to the reduction of the screen margins, the home button will be removed and the touch sensor ID on the power button will be integrated in the upper frame of the device.
