Leica introduced the Leica Q2 Monochrom a few days ago. The Q2 Monochrome is the latest model of Leica monochrome camera to join the company’s other cameras, such as the M10 Monochrom, introduced earlier this year. These cameras only record black and white visual content.

In the Q2 monochrome camera, we see a clear sensor and a macro mode. Perhaps the most interesting thing about the Leica Q2 monochrome camera is its design, which is different from other company cameras and the design is not very impressive. The symbolic Leica logo, which appears in red on the body of the company’s cameras, does not appear on the Q2 monochrome, and only the words “MONOCHROM” on the top edge of the camera confirm that it is monochromatic. Leica says it has tried to keep the design of its new monochrome camera as simple as possible.

Leica says the camera menu has undergone some changes to make it easier to work with and better compatible with the specific features of monochrome cameras. According to Leica, all image color settings have been removed from the monochrome Q2 camera settings , and this menu contains only settings to change the whiteness or blackness of the images.

The Q2 monochrome camera is equipped with a new 46.7-megapixel full-frame monochrome sensor based on the Q2 sensor. Leica says it has purposefully removed the sensor’s color filter array to absorb more light and increase the sharpness of black-and-white images. Leica says the dynamic range of ISO and ISO and the clear resolution of its new camera sensor will impress buyers.

Thanks to the high resolution, the Summilux 28mm f / 1.7 ASPH fixed lens is equipped with three internal crop modes to shoot in a variety of shapes. The way the crop sensor system works is as if you have placed a lens with a focal length of 35, 50 and 75 mm on the camera. You can see the image of the fixed lens of the Q2 monochrome camera with different types of crop  here .

At a focal length of 28 mm, you get full sensor resolution of 46.7 megapixels (equivalent to 8368 by 5584 pixels); Also, when using the 35mm mode with a resolution of 30 megapixels (equivalent to 6704 by 4472 pixels), when using the 50mm mode with a resolution of 15 megapixels (4688 by 3128 pixels) and when using the 75mm mode with a resolution of only 3 megapixels (3m1) 2096 pixels) ( the original image of a scene  and a 100% crop of that image is visible).

The lens used in the Q2 monochrome camera is also capable of operating in macro mode. In this case, the focal length of the lens is reduced from 30 cm to 17 cm and the aperture of the lens reaches f / 2.8. The user can enter macro mode by turning a special button located on the body of the Leica Q2 monochrome.

The new Leica camera uses an electronic viewfinder (EVF) of OLED type with a resolution of 3.68 megapixels, which is not the best viewfinder on the market, but it offers good quality. The rear panel LCD display measures three inches and supports touch control.

Leica camera sensor does not support anti-shake; But the camera lens relies in part on optical image stabilization. Of course, we do not yet know the exact characteristics of the anti-shake system; Such as the vibration process is provided up to several stops. Due to the changes we mentioned, the camera ISO reaches a maximum of 100,000. Leica says its new camera captures a lot of image detail. The new camera still uses the Contrast-based AutoFocus system, and Leica says the system is fast and accurate and can focus on the main subject in less than 0.15 seconds.

The Q2 monochrome camera can record 4K video at 30 and 24 frames per second. استفادهWhen using Full HD resolution, you will be able to record video at a rate of 120 or 60 frames per second; In this case, rates of 30 and 24 frames per second are provided.
