Recent rumors suggest that Apple is building models of the iPad with an Organic LED Display (OLED), and that Samsung and LG have reportedly taken over. In the latest news, it is said that the company intends to unveil a 10.8-inch iPad with an OLED display next year, which in terms of dimensions, seems to be the fifth generation iPad Air.

According to the report, Apple plans to launch the 11- and 12.9-inch iPad Pro with the display technology in 2023. In fact, this is in line with recent Ming-Chi Koo claims that the iPad Air will be used after the OLED display. In addition, it is possible that Apple will use different OLED technology structures for next year’s iPad and its successors in 2023. The 2022 is said to use inflexible OLED and thin film encapsulation (TFE), while the 2023 is said to use flexible OLED displays similar to iPhones.

Apple probably intends to adopt this approach due to the small capacity of its flexible display supply chain. It is worth mentioning that the company recently introduced the iPad Pro 2021 with an LCD display equipped with a mini-LED backlight. Mini-LED displays, like the ones used in the new iPad Pro, use a network of built-in LEDs under the panel that can be controlled separately. This is what increases the brightness of the screen and improves the depth of black.
