A few days ago, Sigma introduced three new prime lenses as new members of the Contemporary family, and says that these new lenses are also in the I Series lens category. According to Sigma, the I-Series lenses have a compact design and excellent optical performance.

The new Sigma lenses, which have a focal length of 35mm with an aperture of f / 2, a focal length of 65mm with an aperture of f / 2, a focal length of 24mm and an aperture of f / 2.8, and other i-Series lenses with a focal length of 45mm and an aperture of 2.8 Join. Sigma says all four lenses are compact enough to fit well with smaller, lighter modern cameras without mirrors.

According to Sigma, each I-Series lens offers a combination of “excellent optical performance, outstanding applications and compact factor form”. The letter I in the name of the I Series family of lenses refers to the three words that Sigma uses to define this family of lenses: Identity, Iconic, and Instinctive. You can watch the video introducing the Sigma series lenses on YouTube.

All four Sigma lenses are available in E-mount and L-mount models and are equipped with a stepper motor. These lenses are compatible with fast autofocus and use an all-metal body. The aluminum parts of the lenses not only give them an attractive and symbolic effect, but also make the i-series lenses very durable.

Metal raw materials have also been used in the internal structures of lenses; These precision pieces have previously been used in Sigma’s high-end cinematographic cameras and provide what Sigma calls an “exquisite sensation.” The pieces in question also make an interesting sound.

Sigma 35mm f/2 DG DN

The 35mm f / 2 DG DN lens consists of 10 elements in 9 groups and consists of three spherical elements with a glass frame to correct spherical aberration, field curvature and aberration oscillation while focusing. . Sigma also claims that it modifies the Coma Aberration lens in a good way so that it can be used for night imaging.  You can see  a sample taken with the f / 2 DG DN lens .
