Today, we live in a world where profiteers can exploit any device connected to the Internet and using a microphone; From smart speakers to phones and laptops . In 2018 , Apple added a new feature to its MacBooks to alleviate such concerns . In fact, Apple announced that its microphone would be turned off when the new MacBooks were closed. MacBooks use chips called T2. The T2  is equipped with a special feature that mutes the device’s microphone in terms of hardware. At the time, Apple had said:

The microphone is disconnected as hardware, which means that no software, even those with root access in macOS , can interact with the microphone when the laptop is closed.

New documentation related to Apple’s iPad Pro 2020,  which was recently leaked to 9to5Mac media, shows that both models of this new tablet are equipped with the same functionality as the MacBook Pro. This way, whenever the user closes the protective case, the security chip used in the iPad Pro tablet will turn off the microphone.
